In 2012, Bernice Clarke founded Uasau Soap Inc., an all-natural bath and body product home-based business that incorporates Inuit teachings, traditional knowledge, Bowhead whale and Nuna to share, teach, and preserve Inuit culture while helping relieve troublesome skin conditions.
Passionate about lifelong learning and preserving her culture, Bernice holds a Diploma in Inuit Studies and a Certificate in Office Administration from Nunavut Arctic College, a Certificate in Indigenous Language Proficiency from the University of Victoria, and a Certificate in Advanced Management from Saint Mary’s University. Bernice was born and raised in Iqaluit Nunavut by her mother, Annie, and Grandmother, Kanayuk Kootoo, and now lives with her husband Justin and is a mother to three adult children and her youngest, who is ten.
